romanticizing writing with...Peyton Corinne
"Reality is sweatpants, a lot of pacing my apartment, and talking out loud to myself."
romanticizing writing with… is a monthly interview series that offers a sneak peek into the dream scenario and the reality of an author’s writing life. In this column, we’re indulging, challenging, and shedding light on the ways we look at writing through a romantic lens.
Next up, we’re romanticizing writing with Peyton Corinne, author of romances with imperfect characters, angst, and lots of heart. She’s the author of Unsteady and Unloved, which is out today!
Unloved is an achingly tender story with characters you can’t help but cheer on. It’s about a hopeless romantic named Ro who craves real affection and a hockey player named Freddy who has secured an NHL contract post-graduation but needs to pass biology. Struggling with dyslexia, dyscalculia, and ADHD, Freddy is assigned a new tutor, who turns out to be Ro. Over time, the two becomes friends and protect each other with all they’ve got. Unloved is an earnest and heartfelt novel about love, friendship, and grief that shows you how powerful it is to be seen—and loved—for who you really are.
🗓️ As a reminder, I’ll be in convo with Peyton this Friday, February 7, at Barnes & Noble Cool Springs.
Now let’s get romanticizing!
Lauren Kung Jessen: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and what you write?
Peyton Corinne: My name is Peyton, I love a hot coffee, a soft male main character, and a Twilight movie marathon. And I write pretty angsty romances—specifically right now, hockey romances.
LKJ: What’s your dream writing day?
