In eight months, my fourth rom-com, The Fortune Flip, will be coming out! Writing this book was the most fun I’ve had yet and quite the emotional journey. I’ve teased a little bit about it, and now we have a cover! AND you can officially preorder it from wherever you like to buy your books.
Before I get into the details and some FAQ, here’s the cover!:
The incredible Sanny Chiu, who’s designed all my covers so far, created this one, too!
Details I’m obsessed with:
The NYC skyline. This book takes place mostly in NYC, a place I love so much and where I call home. There are sooooo many scenes in here that make me actively miss the city that I’m in. I wrote this book while living in Nashville, and will be editing/copyediting here, but I give writing this book a lot of credit for making me miss the city so much that I moved back. 😆
The sparrows. They come into play in a realllllly fun way!
The tuxedo cat. I’m not going to share his name quite yet, but it’s both Broadway and food themed, because of course it is. And like, what’s he about to do? All will be revealed in the book. The group chat awaits him.
The lottery ticket. The fact that it’s gold, too…like it’s the golden ticket. He’s passing it to her for REASONS. You’ll have to read to find out why.
And OF COURSE, I cannot wait for you to meet Hazel and Logan!! They are my black cat/golden retriever duo who share a lottery ticket after having their fortunes read—only for their luck to be seemingly flipped.
The interaction with the letters. Okay, this is technical, but I love when characters interact with the book titles. This is a very specific love I have, I realize that. (This is also a thing on my Red String Theory cover.)
The outline makes the book look like a tarot/fortune card and/or a Playbill, both of which are incredibly topical for this book. You’ll get Broadway, you’ll get fortune telling, you’ll get so much more.
The coral-y, orangey, red color. (I should probably use 🧡 as one of my emojis, right?) This color comes into play in this book in a few ways. One way: the book takes place in the fall…in NYC…where everything is golden and orange and vivid.
A recap + some more FAQs:
When does The Fortune Flip come out?
March 17, 2026—very fitting for a book that has to do with luck, don’t you think? 🙃
What’s it about?
As far as descriptions go, “The Fortune Flip follows two strangers who share a lottery ticket after having their fortunes read—only for their luck to be seemingly flipped” is still the most I can give you…for now. As soon as I have a full description, I’ll send it your way!
Where can I buy it?
You’ll be able to get The Fortune Flip at most major retailers, as well as your local indie, but you can preorder it now! I’m sure you’ve heard every author talk about how important preorders are, and that’s because they are. Thank you if you’re considering it!
Will there be any preorder incentives?
Yes! I’ll have more details about that later this year, so stay tuned.
Will there be any characters I recognize?
They won’t appear on page, but this book still exists within the LKJ universe so there are mentions of characters you’ve met before. ☺️ AND, this is the Easter egg I alluded to: Logan is the carpenter who made the heart-shaped chairs at The Wildflower Inn (!!!)…so there’s that. 😉
You don’t have to read any of my books in order—they’re not a series—but if you want to see how all the threads are threading, I recommend reading them in the order of: Lunar Love, Red String Theory, Yin Yang Love Song, and then this one. (You could also switch the order of Lunar Love and Red String Theory.)
Will there be food in this book?
Of course! It wouldn’t be an LKJ book without food. I won’t spoil it (hah) for you, but readers tell me often that my books should come with disclaimers to have snacks on hand while reading, so, there you go.
Thanks so much for all your support! I’ll be sharing the cover on social, too, so maybe I’ll see you there?
Bonus FAQ: Will there be any sales? Yep! Get ready for one tomorrow…👀
From me to you, in the present,
Lauren

I LOVE this cover! I especially love the coral color and like you, I love when characters interact with the title in some way. Congrats!
Love it!
